Krakow is divided into several districts. Here is a brief on that.

STARE MIASTO (OLD TOWN)

The heart of Krakow with the biggest medieval square in Europe (The Market Square – Rynek Glowny), one of the best places to have fun in Krakow. Never sleeping going out places jammed with hostels and hotels, as well as outstanding nightclubs, pubs.

Old Town is defined by wide variety of architectonics beauty represented by municipal buildings, churches (monumental Gothic St. Mary’s Basilica – Kościół Mariacki), university campuses. Also place to visit main historical sights (Wawel), galleries and museums (Bunkier Sztuki, Piwnica Pod Baranami).

KAZIMIERZ, STRADOM

Located five minutes walk from Old Town. Both district known worldwide for being a home for Jewish community. Kazimierz is known for tremendous atmosphere, historical sites, significant places of culture (Galicia Jewish Museum), many, many cafes and pubs (Alchemia) and restaurants. It’s still less crowded than Main market Square.

RAKOWICE, SRODMIESCIE WARSZAWSKIE, WESOLA, GRZEGORZKI

Located northwest of Old town. Safe residential area close to the main Railway Station and Coach Station. Worth noticing for its lower costs of living and good transport infrastructure.

KLEPARZ, CZARNA WIES, NOWA WIES, LOBZOW

Located north of Old Town. Very quiet residential area. Many parks, market places and restaurants.

ZWIERZYNIEC, NOWY SWIAT, SALWATOR

Located directly west of Old Town on the north bank of the Wisla River. Another very calm and purely a residential area. Some places worth visiting (Kosciuszko Mound).

DEBNIKI, LUDWINOW, ZAKRZOWEK

Located southwest of Old Town and south of the Wisla River. Home for a lake, and longs of the city. Very good for recreation

LAGIEWNIKI, STARE PODGORZE

Located south of Old Town on the south bank of the Wisla River. Mainly townhouses and apartments with low cost of living.
