Majority of polish beers are lagers or pilsners - that is the most basic and important truth about the whole subject. As in any other country, in Poland you get small local brands and those big and recognizable. Also, quite predictably, the first category is large and mostly unknown for wider public. To the second one, on the other hand, one could put beers which are known not only in Poland but in other countries as well. Brands such as Okocim, Lech, Zywiec, Tyskie, Okocim belong to big international corporations (mostly to Heineken and Carlsberg which own up to 85% of polish beer market) and are available through the whole Europe. Especially in the places such as London, Edinburgh - known for hosting many polish emigrants.

Apart from lagers you can also spot most of them in stronger variations where alcohol content varies from 6 to 10 % - such as Warka Strong, Okocim Mocne.

Foreign beers are available in many pubs and clubs. In Krakow there is couple of Irish pubs, Irish only from the name, but still trying to provide wider variety of beers such as Kilkenny or Guinness.
