Weather in Krakow

Current weather for Krakow:

Krakow enjoys a temperate climate which is relatively hot in the summer and cold in the winter. So, even though daytime temperature would be around 20C (centigrade) for most of the summer, early autumn and late spring, and around 0C in the winter time, there are also weeks of summer heat above 30C as well as winter froze below minus 20C. So be prepared.

If you decide to visit Krakow in the summer take some light clothes. It’s not going to be as hot as in Italy, New York or Beijing, just to give couple of examples. But it is still better to walk with your hat and sunglasses on. First sight of the Spring usually appears around March - trees and grass begin to turn green and wind loses it's impact. Pick of the heat is usually July and August. September is very often balmy and really pleasant.

On the other extrema - winter can be very snowy and cold as well. The coldest, but sometime most beautifully white months of the Winter are December and January. It is good time for people enjoying skiing or hiking in the Tatras Mountains, but maybe not so nice for sightseeing. Still - it's not Siberia, so just be prepared for cold weather and wear proper clothes, if you want to explore the city. On the plus side - the Winter time is rich with cultural events - so you can spent a good time in Krakow, if you only want to.

Christmas time is mostly white in Krakow snow-clad usually from mid December to mid March, with small variations from one season to another. And “days are longest in June, hottest in July, and most beautiful in August”–an old Polish poem says. On the other hand, Krakow’s perfect springs fill the city with sweet-smelling blossoms from mid April through May. While the famed Polish “golden autumns” bring dry and warm weather amid rich colors of dying leaves from mid September to mid October or so. On November nights and mornings the city is often shrouded in mist.
